چکیده

OBJECTIVES To determine the sensitivity of pre-op ultrasonography in localizing parathyroid adenoma for minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) technique. METHODOLOGY The study was conducted at department ENT and Head & Neck Surgery, MTI Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar. It included a retrospective analysis records patients who underwent MIP from Jan 1, 2019, to July 31, 2022. All had pre-operative meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scans, serum PTH, Serum calcium levels were determined. A ultrasound scan acquired mark site adenoma. carried out using 3.5 4 cm transverse skin incision over marked expose thyroid gland. If gland identified without any other aids, result labelled as "True positive". calculated SPSS v 26.0. RESULTS total 53 cases study. male: female ratio 1:1.8. ages ranged 23-70 years with mean age 48.49 standard deviation +_ 10.818. Pre-op accurately localizes 49 patients. Statistical showed this be significant finding. CONCLUSION is significantly helpful Therefore its routine use recommended help localize parathyroidectomy.

A Comparison of Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Parathyroidectomy and Traditional Parathyroidectomy for Parathyroid Adenoma

BACKGROUND Pre-operative imaging techniques for sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism (SPHPT) and intraoperative parathyroid hormone (ioPTH) have led to the wide spread use of minimally invasive surgical approaches. STUDY DESIGN In our prospectively collected database, 157 subjects with SPHPT and a preoperative diagnosis of parathyroid adenoma were treated with parathyroidectomy between Januar...

Minimally invasive video-assisted parathyroidectomy without intraoperative parathyroid hormone monitoring.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES surgical treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism has evolved from the classical bilateral neck exploration to minimally invasive techniques due to recent advances in preoperative localisation methods. The additional value of intraoperative parathyroid hormone (PTH) monitoring is questioned. The aim of this study was to analyse the results of minimally invasive video...

Minimally invasive management of the mediastinal parathyroid adenoma.

INTRODUCTION/METHODS Traditional surgical management of mediastinal parathyroid adenomas has required mediastinal exploration via sternotomy or thoracotomy. By contrast minimal access approaches to the mediastinum via videoscopic transthoracic or transcervical approaches can offer equivalent visualization, patient safety and decreased patient morbidity. The availability of sternal retractor sys...

Minimally invasive radioguided parathyroidectomy.

The recent development of radioguided parathyroidectomy has allowed parathyroidectomy to be quickly performed by a significantly less invasive procedure. Radioguided parathyroidectomy is also likely to decrease operation time, risk of complications, hospital stay, and the overall cost of patient care, result in a smaller scar and rapid, nearly pain-free recovery, and allow local anesthesia. Des...

Minimally Invasive Parathyroidectomy

Minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) is an operative approach for the treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). Currently, routine use of improved preoperative localization studies, cervical block anesthesia in the conscious patient, and intraoperative parathyroid hormone analyses aid in guiding surgical therapy. MIP requires less surgical dissection causing decreased trauma to tis...
